According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports, right-handed pitcher Brian Bannister has signed a one-year deal with the Tokyo Giants. The deal includes a club option.

According to a Kansas City Royals press release, the team assigned right-handed pitcher Brian Bannister outright to Triple-A Omaha. Rather than accept the assignment, Bannister chose to become a free agent. In a parallel move, the team designated Brian Anderson for assignment.
