    Athletics designate Powell and Miller for assignment
    In an announcement by the Oakland Athletics, the team has designated catcher Landon Powell and outfielder Jai Miller for assignment. The move was done to accommodate the trade that sent Gio Gonzalez to the Nationals for right-handed pitcher A.J.
