According to the Associated Press, the Arizona Diamondbacks have designated Saul Rivera for assignment. In a parallel move, the team has recalled reliever Blaine Boyer from Triple-A Reno.
Rivera, 32, had a 22.09 ERA in four relief appearances with the Diamondbacks this season.
Rivera was acquired by D-backs from the Indians last month for cash.
